This Vipre antivirus review offers you everything you need to know about this software.

April 13, 2022 at 12:14 pm in Anti Virus

Vipre was once again sold to J2 Global, its current owner.

Vipre doesn’t offer a free version of its antivirus software, though you can download a free trial.
The Advanced Security package is the standard edition. It comes with the following features:

  • Tested and certified antivirus protection
  • Real-time protection
  • Ransomware protection
  • Cloud-based features
  • Vipre firewall
  • Anti-spam tools
  • Customer support based in the U.S.

The Antivirus Plus is a stripped-down version of Advanced Security with only antivirus and ransomware protection with cloud-enabled tools. The premium Security Bundle offers webcam and microphone protection, plus file protection.

Vipre Antivirus Review – The Pros

Here, in this Vipre antivirus review is a list of the strongest suites of Vipre:

Good Independent Testing Results

Vipre hasn’t undergone a major overhaul.

Simple User Interface

Unlike most antivirus software, Vipre is fairly simple to use. It has easy-to-understand features and the user interface isn’t exactly brimming with features. You can run a scan or schedule a scan. There are no confusing customization options. Simple features can often be detrimental to antivirus software. But in Vipre’s case, everything is easy and neat.

Non-Intensive Performance

Vipre’s simplistic design. On the positive side, you can browse the web, use a word processor, or even do some gaming without your computer freezing.

Email Filtering

Because Vipre started out mainly as a spam filtering company, you still get this feature in the antivirus program. The Vipre email filtering tool works with Microsoft Outlook, either on the PC or the Mac version. It works with Firefox Thunderbird as well. It’s a fairly useful tool to keep unwanted emails out of your inboxes.

File Shredder

The file shredder is essential for removing all traces of a file from your system. Not all antivirus programs come with one, so this is definitely a welcome plus.

Budget-Friendly Pricing

Vipre is definitely one of the low-cost antivirus programs out there. It doesn’t have a lot of features, so you can get basic malware protection at a much cheaper rate than what most top-tier software offers.

Vipre Antivirus Review – The Cons

These are the main things Vipre lacks from our Vipre antivirus review:

Available Only for Desktops

Vipre doesn’t specify whether you can run the software on Android or iOS, but you would have to assume it doesn’t. There’s no way to extend support to handheld devices in addition to your computer.

Webcam and Microphone Protection Isn’t Standard

Top-tier malware protection software offers tools against webcam or microphone hijackings as standard practice. These tools are so widely available that they are barely advertised. However, with Vipre, webcam and microphone protection is only available in the most expensive package. You would have to pay about $30 more just for these rather standard features.

Limited to a Single PC

So far, the biggest downside is that Vipre limits use to just one computer. It runs only on Windows or macOS, but you can’t use the antivirus on any other device running the same operating system. Most antivirus packages offer extended device support with premium pricing. Not Vipre. Even the most expensive package is limited to just one PC.

ID Shield Sold Separately

Vipre offers a tool called ID shield to protect your identity when browsing the net. Unfortunately, this is not included in the antivirus packaging. Instead, you have to buy it separately for an additional fee. It’s a downside, given that most other malware protection programs include built-in identity protection with subscriptions.

Cloud-Based Updating

Vipre. However, you will be better protected from online threats thanks to this feature.

Getting Vipre Antivirus in 2019 and Beyond

Vipre won’t protect you across devices. It lacks features like VPNs and password managers. But for some, this level of simplicity is quite desirable.

We hope the Vipre antivirus review was what you needed.

If you want a VPN, password manager, smart TV protection, and more with your antivirus program, Vipre will not be for you. But if you are looking for an antivirus with a low system impact that’s quite easy to use, then Vipre might be what you are looking for.
